Leaders Hibernians will be hoping to return to winning ways as they take on Mosta in one of the three BOV Premier League matches in programme on Saturday. Balzan face Hamrun Spartans and Gudja United meet Sliema Wanderers in the other two matches.
At the Tony Bezzina Stadium, kick-off at 14:00, Hamrun would move second should they beat Balzan.
The Spartans are currently third on 24 points, two behind Floriana, but have a game in hand. They are coming from four consecutive wins, defeating Santa Lucia, Sliema, Valletta and Mosta. Balzan, on the other hand, share seventh place with Sirens on 19 points. In their last outing, they were enjoying a two-goal lead with five minutes to go but three goals in the dying minutes allowed Birkirkara to register a 3-2 win.
In the first round, Balzan defeated Hamrun 1-0.
At the Centenary Stadium, kick-off at 16:00, Mosta face Hibernians.
Sharing the second place from bottom with Santa Lucia, Mosta are desperate for points. They lost 1-2 to Hamrun in their last outing – the fourth defeat in five matches for the Blues. Hibs, on the other hand, continue to lead the table but dropped two precious points in a 1-1 draw with Sirens earlier this week.
In the first round, Hibs defeated Mosta 3-2.
At the Tony Bezzina Stadium, kick-off at 18:00, Gudja United take on Sliema Wanderers.
Fresh from a 3-0 win over Santa Lucia in another direct clash on Wednesday, Gudja will be aiming for a second win on the trot in their bid to move away from the danger zone. In four matches, they defeats Mosta and Santa Lucia, drew with Sirens and suffered a narrow defeat to Hibernians. Sliema, on the other hand, continue to chase a first win after thirteen matches, having collected their only points in four draws. In fact, they have failed to obtain a positive result since the draw with Santa Lucia in October, losing the last six games.
In the first round, Gudja defeated Sliema 3-2.
