Attard maintained their unbeaten record in Group A of the BOV National Amateur League as they defeated Siggiewi 5-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.
Lydon Cuschieri put Attard ahead on the 16th minute and five minutes later, Keith Fedele doubled the score. Bledi Alla made it 3-0 on the 27th. In the second half, Brandon Bray and Nicholas Schembri added another two goals on the 76th and 85th.
The other two matches – Dingli Swallows vs Ta’ Xbiex at the Luxol Stadium and Msida St. Joseph vs Birzebbuga St. Peter’s at the Sirens Stadium – ended in goalless draws.
Gharghur lead the way with 21 points, followed by Kalkara on 17, Attard and Birzebbuga 16, Xghajra and Msida 12, Dingli 11, Siggiewi 7, Ta’ Xbiex 6 and Ghaxaq 5. Attard had nine points deducted.
In Group B, Zurrieq joined Marsaskala on top as they defeated Mellieha 2-0 at the Sirens Stadium thanks to goals by Adrian Caruana just before the end of the first half and Timothy Thomas on the 79th.
At the Luxol Stadium, Zabbar St. Patrick defeated Sta. Venera Lightnings 2-1. Cheyzen Spagnol put Zabbar ahead on the 38th. Fabio Attard equalised on the 69th but one minute in added time, Francesco Gusman notched the winner.
Marsaskala and Zurrieq lead the way with 22 points, followed by Mtarfa on 19, Zabbar 16, Mdina and Mellieha 9, Sta. Venera 7, Qormi 6 and Kirkop 5.
