Izibet FA Trophy: Another five teams through to Round of 16

Valletta, Floriana, Balzan, Gudja United and Challenge League side Tarxien Rainbows joined Hibernians, Mosta and St. George’s in the Round of 16 of the Izibet FA Trophy as another five matches from the Round of 32 were played on Wednesday.

At the Centenary Stadium, Valletta defeated National Amateur League side Marsaskala 5-0.

Haris Dilaver converted a penalty after just four minutes and Ivan Curjuric doubled the score on the 35th. Two minutes in the second half, Shaun Dimech made it 3-0 and five minutes later, Dimech scored Valletta’s fourth. Caio Prado sealed the issue with a penalty on the 66th minute.

In the next round, Valletta will be facing Tarxien Rainbows.

Tarxien Rainbows, in fact, defeated Marsa 2-0 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium in a clash between two Challenge League sides.

Thiago Nonato Peixoto handed the Rainbows an early lead on the 4th minute and Karl Cutajar doubled the score on the 33rd.

Andrei-Cosmin Ciolacu scored the all-important goal on the 77th minute.

The Greens will be facing St. George’s in the Round of 16.

At the Tony Bezzina Stadium, Balzan defeated Challenge League side Pieta’ Hotspurs 5-1.

Milan Djuric handed Balzan a two-goal lead within the first ten minutes with goals on the 2nd and the 10th. Milos Mijic made it 3-0 on the 31st. Two minutes in the second half, Bojan Kaljevic scored Balzan’s fourth and six minutes later, Milan Djuric added another. Joao Pedro Oliveira Santos pulled one back for the Hotspurs six minutes from time after that a Paul Lapira penalty was saved by goalkeeper Vukasin Vranes on the 57th.

Balzan will be facing Hamrun Spartans or Naxxar Lions in the next round.

At the Centenary Stadium, Gudja United defeated Challenge League side Swieqi United 4-0.

Ahinga Buenvenu Selemani put Gudja ahead on the 29th minute and five minutes from the end of the first half, Farid Romero Zuniga doubled the score. Three minutes in the second half, Tatsuro Nagamatsu made it 3-0 with Nika Dzalamidze adding another two minutes later.

In the Round of 16, Gudja will be facing Gzira United or Zabbar St. Patrick.
