Gudja United registered a fourth win in five matches as they defeated Hamrun Spartans 1-0 at the National Stadium on Sunday. A win which puts Thane Micallef’s side further away from the danger zone as they move seventh.
Hamrun, on the other hand, suffer a second successive defeat to go five matches without a win, therefore remaining on level points with Gzira United.
Gudja scored the all-important goal eleven minutes from time when Matias Muchardi sent substitute Godwin Mensah through; the latter’s shot was partially saved by goalkeeper Matthias Debono and off the rebound, Ahinga Bienvenu Selemani placed the ballot the back of the net.
