Mark Buttigieg no longer coach of Hamrun Spartans

Mark Buttigieg is no longer the coach of Hamrun Spartans after the two parties agreed to terminate his contract by mutual consent.

Buttigieg had joined the Spartans last summer, leading the club to the Premier League title – the first championship for the club in three decades. However, this season, the club struggled to retain last season’s form and are currently joint-fourth on 27 points with eight wins, three draws and seven defeats.

This was the second experience for Buttigieg in the Premier League after a short spell as coach with Birkirkara in 2019. Buttigieg had earlier served as coach of SK Victoria Wanderers and Nadur Youngsters in Gozo and as Physical Trainer within the MFA Technical Sector.
