Maya Lucia scored twice as the Malta women’s Under-19 national team defeated Cyprus 2-0 in a friendly match at the Sotira Municipal Stadium on Thursday.
Cyprus had the opportunity to take the lead when they were awarded a penalty but goalkeeper Giulia D’Antuono performed a good save on Kristia Kouppi. Maya Lucia put Malta ahead on the 28th minute with a powerful shot that stunned the Cyprus goalkeeper and went on to double the score on the 77th when she pounced on a loose ball before slotting past the goalkeeper.
Malta plays another friendly match against Cyprus on Thursday.
