Valletta return to winning ways

Valletta maintained alive hopes of securing a top-six finish as they returned to winning ways to beat Sliema Wanderers 1-0 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Saturday.

A win which puts the Citizens three points behind Gzira United and Sirens but the latter two have a game in hand. This win was also the first league win for Valletta since the appointment of Danilo Doncic as coach.

Sliema, on the other hand, remain anchored at the bottom of the table with 11 points.

The Citizens scored the all-important goal eight minutes in the second half when Kevin Tulimieri exchanged the ball with Mario Fontanella before serving Caio Prado who controlled before beating goalkeeper David Cassar from close range.
