BOV National Amateur League: Attard march on

Attard keep marching on in Group A of the BOV National Amateur League as they defeated Ghaxaq 5-1 at the Sirens Stadium on Sunday.

Bledi Alla put Attard ahead on the 10th minute and Lydon Cuschieri doubled the score on the 22nd. On the half hour, Nicholas Schembri made it 3-0, adding another five minutes from the end of the first half. Nicholas Schembri completed a hat-trick with a goal on the 63rd. Ian Calleja pulled one back on the 66th.

A goal four minutes in the second half handed Birzebbuga St. Peter’s a narrow win over Dingli Swallows at the Sirens Stadium.

On the other hand, Xghajra Tornados defeated Msida St. Joseph 3-1 at the Luxol Stadium. Aaron Hili put Xghajra ahead on the 9th but Daniel Claridge equalised on the 17th. However Andre Mallia made it 2-1 for Xghajra on the 23rd and eight minutes from time, Aaron Hili added another.

Attard, who had nine points deducted, lead the way with 35 points, followed by Gharghur on 30, Birzebbuga 26, Msida 25, Kalkara 24, Xghajra 21, Siggiewi 14, Dingli and Ghaxaq 11 and Ta’ Xbiex 10. 

In Group B, Zurrieq defeated Mdina Knights 5-0 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

Timothy Thomas put Zurrieq ahead on the 21st and Ivan Bojovic doubled the score on the 34th. Four minutes from the end of the first half, Thomas made it 3-0. Giovanni Galea scored a fourth goal six minutes in the second half and Jamie Spiteri extended the lead further with a fifth goal on the 78th.

At the Sirens Stadium, Zabbar St. Patrick defeated Qormi 4-1. Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza put the Saints ahead on the 17th. Zabbar doubled the score thanks to an own goal on the 29th and eight minutes later, Mifsud Triganza made it 3-0. Carlos Debattista reduced the gap on the 84th but Miguel Ciantar sealed the issue with a fourth goal two minutes in added time. 

Zurrieq lead the way with 38 points, followed by Marsaskala on 32, Zabbar 31, Mtarfa 28, Mdina 18, Kirkop 11, Mellieha 10, Qormi 9 and Sta. Venera 8.
