Kalkara United and Mtarfa reached the second round of the BOV National Amateur League Promotion Play-Offs after both registered wins at the Luxol Stadium on Sunday.
In the first match, Kalkara beat Mdina Knights 5-1.
An own goal put Kalkara ahead on the 9th minute and nine minutes later, Mohamed Ahmad Ayoub doubled the score. On the half hour, Andriy Pisani made it 3-0. Eight minutes in the second half, Matthew Degiorgio increased the lead and although James Borg pulled one back on the 61st, Joao Azambuja Studart Orban made it 5-1 on the 69th.
On the other hand, Mtarfa beat Msida St. Joseph 3-1.
Kurt Zammit handed Mtarfa the lead on the 11th minute and although Jason Camilleri equalised on the 59th, Nestor Luis Silva Canas made it 3-1 on the 69th and Dylan Douglas Camilleri sealed the issue with another goal five minutes from time.
In the second round, in programme on Saturday, Kalkara United will face Zabbar St. Patrick on at the Sirens Stadium, kick-off at 14:00 while Mtarfa take on Birzebbuga St. Peter’s, also at the Sirens Stadium, kick-off at 17:30.
The winners of these two matches will face each other in a decisive game with the winner facing Gharghur for a place in the Challenge League next season.
