Sirens maintained a two-point gap over Santa Lucia after holding them in a 2-2 draw in a match from the BOV Premier League Play-Out final round at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Saturday.
For the St. Paul’s Bay side, this was the first positive result after four successive defeats while Santa Lucia earned another precious point in the battle to avoid relegation.
Sirens took the lead four minutes from the end of the first half thanks to an angled shot from the right by Bogdan Gavrila who concluded a good move
Nine minutes in the second half, Santa Lucia equalised thanks to Meghon Valpoort, served by Conti, who advanced into the area before beating goalkeeper Jonathan Debono.
Three minutes later, Vito Plut advanced on the left before serving Meghon Valpoort who hit home from close range.
Sirens, however, restored equilibrium thanks to Bogdan Gavrila who scored from close range when served by Vieira.
