Futsal: Luxol close in on final

Luxol St. Andrews are firm favourites of making it to the final of the Enemed Futsal Premier play-offs after seeing off Ta’ Xbiex Futsal 6-1 in the first semi-final played at the National Sport School in Pembroke.

Gabriel Dobre’s boys dominated the proceedings from start to finish with Ta’ Xbiex who found it hard to play their typical game. Maicon da Silva Gaiewski who netted a poker while Melvin Borg and Everton Veve completed the score for their team. Ta’ Xbiex pulled one back through Redeemer Borg.

On the other hand, the second semifinal between Valletta and University of Malta was a balanced affair as the 4-4 score line clearly shows. The second leg to be played this Friday should be another balanced affair.

It was a well-fought match with Valletta scoring their goals through Zvezdan Vukovic, Brayan Stiven, Andre Cachia and Emerson Felipe while the Students had their duo Guillherme Fonseca and Mohammed Elamari scoring a brace.

In the Enemed Challenger Futsal League, Naxxar Lions defeated Qormi Futsal 11-0. The latter did not find the going easy against a very motivated side who had Calvin Scicluna notching a hat-trick. Jurgen Gauci, Andrew Scerri, Matthew Camilleri, Josef Azzopardi, Matthew Buttigieg, Clyde Bonavia, Darren Grech and Antoine Barbara also put their names on the score sheet.

Siġġiewi also ensured a place in the final four as they defeated Żurrieq FC 6-1. Bledi Alla and Jean Lopes Leite were twice on the mark with Ryan Muscat and Dale Vella who were also on target. Boycho Marev pulled one back for Żurrieq.

In this week’s semi-final matches, Mellieħa take on Siġġiewi while St George’s face Naxxar Lions.
