Balzan maintained alive hopes of avoiding relegation as they defeated Sirens 3-2 in a match from the BOV Premier League Play-Out final round at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Saturday.
They join Santa Lucia on 27 points but the latter have a game against Sliema in hand. Next week, Balzan face Sliema and Santa Lucia take on Valletta.
Balzan took the lead on the 20th minute courtesy of Marcus Grima who beat goalkeeper Sean Mintoff with a fine shot from outside the area.
Sirens equalised two minutes later thanks to Vitor Vieira whose low shot from the edge of the area beat goalkeeper Rudy Briffa.
The St. Paul’s Bay side made it 2-1 on 27 minutes when Vieira served Marios Lomis inside the area and the latter hit low past the Balzan goalkeeper.
Five minutes in the second half, Balzan equalised thanks to a direct freekick by Milan Djuric.
Eight minutes later, Balzan regained the lead thanks to Aleksa Andrejic who hit home past the Sirens goalkeeper following a cross from the right by Ljubomirac.
