Floriana and Hibernians will be all out to secure a place in the final of the Izibet FA Trophy and set-up a clash with Valletta as the two teams cross swords in the second semi-final at the National Stadium on Wednesday, kick-off at 19:30.
Hibernians won the championship, finishing top three points ahead of Floriana. Therefore, while Hibs target the double, Floriana hope to end the season on a positive note by winning the FA Trophy.
The Greens won the competition twenty times, ending twelve times as losing finalists. The Paolites reached the final 21 times, winning the FA Trophy ten times.
To reach this stage, Floriana defeated Ghajnsielem 1-0 in the Round of 32, St. George’s 2-0 in the Round of 16 and Birkirkara 3-1 in the quarter-finals. Hibernians, on the other hand, beat Nadur Youngsters 2-0, Zejtun Corinthians 2-1 and Hamrun Spartans 3-1 in the previous rounds.
Hibernians and Floriana met three times this season with the first round clash ending in a goalless draw, the second ending in a 4-1 win for Hibernians and the third ending in another goalless draw.
The final is scheduled for Sunday 15, kick-off at 17:00.
