Luxol, Siggiewi, UoM and St. George’s reach E&L Futsal Trophy semi-finals

Luxol, Siġġiewi, University of Malta and St George’s are the four semifinalists of the E&L Futsal Trophy after emerging as winners in the four quarter-finals.

Luxol St Andrews managed to brush off Valletta’s challenge as they won 7-3. Gabriel Dobre’s boys were in inspirational mood as they had Andy Mangion netting a brace while Melvin Borg, Celino Alves, Dylan Musu, Mark Zammit and Matthew Attard also found the back of the net for the champions. Valletta scored three thanks to Andre Cachia, Aaron Montebello and Jovica Milijic.

University of Malta dominated the proceedings against Mellieħa, beating them 14-2. The Students were aggressive as from the start as they had Guillherme Fonseca netting a poker while Mohammed Elamari and Steven Camilleri helped themselves with a hat-trick. Cleaven Portelli scored two goals with Stefan Camilleri and an own goal rubber-stambing the final score. Marinko Solarevic and Dusan Petrovic scored the only goals for the Northerners.

St George’s also booked a place in the final four of the competition after seeing off Qormi 6-2.

The Cottonera side were determined to write history with Herbert Spiteri netting a brace while Liam Caruana, Karl Luke Schembri, Charvon Gatt and Ishmael Buhagiar completed the score for their team. Qormi reduced the score courtesy of Aryton Duncan and Kevin Agius.

Siġġiewi were the last team to qualify for the semifinals of this competition after obtaining a fine 7-2 win against Żurrieq Futsal. The Yellow/Reds were motivated throughout the whole match as Shataizan Zarb, Jean Lopes, Dale Vella, Andre Joe Cutajar, Juan Sebastian Debono, Justin Theuma and Kieran Debono scored the goals. Alexei Saliba and Boycho Marev were Żurrieq’s scorers.

In this weekend’s semi-finals, St George’s have a tough challenge against Luxol while Siġġiewi cross swords with University of Malta.
