Birkirkara girls crown another successful season with double

Birkirkara completed yet another double in women’s football after defeating Swieqi United 3-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Friday to lift the Women’s Knock-Out Competition.

This was the sixteenth Women’s Knock-Out win for the Stripes after winning their tenth championship earlier this month.

For Birkirkara coach Melania Bajada, this was her last match at the helm of the Stripes following her decision to part ways with the Stripes for personal reasons.

Following a goalless first half, Birkirkara took the lead thanks to Patricia Lamanna whose overhead kick gave Swieqi goalkeeper Jodie Attard no chance.

In the dying minutes, the Stripes sealed the issue with two goals. On the 90th, Raina Giusti doubled the score with a shot from outside the area and three minutes in added time, Sara Saliba beat Jodie Attard from close range.
