Rodolfo Soares returns with Hibernians

Hibernians re-signed Brazilian defender Rodolfo Soares.

The club said that due to difficult circumstances and several suspensions in European competitions, the club had decided to sign experienced defender Rodolfo Soares, who will surely be a massive asset to help the team in achieving its objectives in these competitions.

Andrei Agius, Bjorn Kristensen and Ferdinando Apap were banned for five matches, four matches and two matches respectively following the UEFA Europa Conference League third qualifying round second leg against Riga FC last summer. Coach Stefano Sanderra and team manager Jesmond Abela were also banned for five matches.

Rodolfo Soares, who is now thirty seven years old, had joined the Paolites in 2011 and apart from a six-month spell on loan with Al-Ahed in Lebanon, he played regularly for Hibernians for almost seven years, winning the championship and the FA Trophy twice each.

He moved to Gzira United where he spent two years and then moved to Gozo to join Nadur Youngsters, spending one year at the club. Last summer, he moved to Gudja United.

Hibernians had earlier signed Gabriel Mensah from Gudja United and Lorenzo Soares Fonseca and Justin Haber from Santa Lucia. The Paolites confirmed coach Stefano Sanderra and extended the contracts of Ibrahim Kone. Ferdinando Apap, Thaylor Aldama and Ali Diakite.
