Gudja United beat Mosta to earn first three points

Gudja United registered their first win thanks to a 2-1 win over Mosta at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.

It was a deserved win for Gudja who had an edge over their opponents especially during the first half although Mosta improved after the break.

Making their debut for Gudja United apart from coach Andrea Agostinelli were Andre Prates, Vito Plut and Samuel Gomes da Mata. Mosta, on the other hand, had Patrick Mensah, Jacob Akrong and Johnson Nsumoh along with Precious Tenebe making their first appearance.

Gudja took the lead on the 14th minute when Ahinga Selemani received a throw-in from the left and served Samuel Gomes da Mata and controlled the ball before hitting home past goalkeeper Ini Etim Akpan.

Mosta equalised five minutes in the second half when Zachary Brincat served Christ Ememe on the edge of the area and the latter passed the ball to Geoffrey Acheampong who beat Glenn Zammit with a fine powerful shot from outside the area.

However Gudja regained the lead twelve minutes from time when Samuel Gomes served Llywelyn Cremona on the right and off the latter’s cross, Vito Plut slotted the ball past Akpan.
