National Amateur League: Senglea, Zabbar maintain perfect record

Senglea Athletic and Zabbar St. Patrick registered a fourth win in as many matches in Group A of the National Amateur League on Sunday.

At the Luxol Stadium, Senglea defeated Ta’ Xbiex 4-0 courtesy of Aidan Azzopardi on the 20th, Timmy Thomas on the 28th, Keith Vella on the 37th and Ali Shaban Chikh on the 58th.

Goals by David Oliveira Souza six minutes from the end of the first half and Kenneth Aquilina three minutes in the second half handed Zabbar St. Patrick a 2-0 win over Qormi at the Sirens Stadium.

Kalkara United registered a most comfortable 7-0 win over Pembroke Athleta at the Sirens Stadium. Dhonatan Santos da Hora put Kalkara ahead on the 2nd minute and six minutes later, Julian Zammit doubled the score. Kurt Grech made it 3-0 on the 12th and six minutes later, Fabrizio Zammit scored Kalkara’s fourth. Dhonatan Santos da Hora scored another on the 27th to put Kalkara five goals ahead before half-time. In the second half, Kalkara extended the lead thanks to goals by Dylan Zarb on the 66th and GIlbert Martin five minutes from time.

In another match at the Luxol Stadium, Sta. Venera Lightnings defeated Mellieha 1-0 thanks to a goal by Luke Taliana six minutes in the second half.

Senglea and Zabbar lead the way with 12 points, followed by Mgarr on 7, Kalkara, Sta. Venera and Qormi 6, Xghajra 5, Birzebbuga 4, Mellieha, Ta’ Xbiex and Pembroke 0.
