National Amateur League: Gharghur stun Rabat Ajax

Gharghur inflicted the first defeat on Rabat Ajax in Group B of the National Amateur League as they defeated them 3-0 at the Sirens Stadium on Sunday.

Erik Pietribiasi put Gharghur ahead on the 5th minute and went on to double the score on the 26th. Seven minutes from the end of the first half, Matthew Borda made it 3-0.

Like Gharghur, Dingli Swallows registered their first win as they beat Luqa St. Andrew’s 3-2 a the Luxol Stadium. Cachel Vella handed Dingli a two-goal lead with goals on the 3rd and the 20th but a brace by Gilmour Sammut on the 32nd and 39th restored equilibrium. However Aleksander Kovacic notched the winner on the 65th.

Mdina Knights also registered their first victory as they beat Siggiewi 2-0 at the Luxol Stadium thanks to goals by Joel Winterson the 20th and Nicholas Zahra on the 89th.

Rabat lead the way with 9 points, followed by Msida on 8, Ghaxaq 7, St. George’s and Gharghur 5, Luqa, Dingli, Siggiewi and Mdina 4 and Kirkop 1.
