Balzan beat Pieta’ Hotspurs by odd goal in five

Balzan returned to winning ways thanks to a 3-2 win over Pieta’ Hotspurs at the National Stadium on Sunday.

This win puts Balzan in fifth place, two points behind Gzira United and Gudja United. On the other hand, Pieta’ remain anchored at the bottom of the table without any points after six matches.

Balzan took the lead on the 22nd minute when off a corner from the left, Momcilo Raso headed the ball home past goalkeeper Dele Alampasu.

Pieta’ equalised five minutes in the second half when goalkeeper Rudy Briffa failed to hold a cross from the left and Takuma Yamaguchi hit home from a close angle.

Four minutes later, Balzan regained the lead when Bojan Kaljevic served Alex Satariano inside the area and the latter hit low past the Pieta’ goalkeeper.

Balzan made it 3-1 on the 56th when off a cross by Milos Zlatkovic, Bojan Kaljevic slotted the ball past Alampasu.

Pieta’ reduced the gap on the hour courtesy of Yuto Morita who flicked the ball home from close range after Ganiu Atanda Ogungbe headed the ball down.

Bojan Kaljevic was unlucky to hit the crossbar for Balzan on the 68th.
