National Amateur League: Senglea regain top spot

Senglea Athletic regained the top spot in the National Amateur League Group A as they defeated Mellieha 3-0 at the Sirens Stadium. Zabbar, however, have a game in hand.

Liam Gauci put Senglea ahead on the 9th and Timmy Thomas doubled the score nine minutes later. Matteo Desira Buttigieg made it 3-0 five minutes from the end of the first half.

A goal by Dhonatan Santos da Hora eight minutes in the second half handed Kalkara United a narrow win over Xghajra Tornados at the Luxol Stadium.

On the other hand, a brace by Keith Muscat on the 15th and 25th and goals by Kane Edward Tippett on the 48th and Anderjay Grech on the 52nd handed Birzebbuga St. Peter’s a 4-0 win over Ta’ Xbiex in another match at the Luxol Stadium.

Qormi defeated Pembroke Athleta 2-1 at the Sirens Stadium. Nathan Gauci handed Qormi the lead two minutes from the end of the first half, Weverton Gomes levelled matters on the 77th but Kurt Tanti made it 2-1 for Qormi five minutes from time.

Senglea lead the way with 16 points, followed by Zabbar on 15, Birzebbuga and Kalkara 10, Qormi 9, Mgarr 7, Sta. Venera 6, Xghajra 5, Mellieha and Pembroke 3 and Ta’ Xbiex 0.
