Senglea Athletic regained the top spot in Group A of the National Amateur League as they defeated Birzebbuga St. Peter’s 1-0 in one of the two matches in programme at the Centenary Stadium on Monday.

Sebastian Perdomo Esquivel scored the all-important goal on the 26th.

Meanwhile Xghajra Tornados returned to winning ways as they beat Qormi 3-0. Aaron Hili converted a penalty on the 19th. Aidan Agius Gilford doubled the score on the 65th and Redheil Stivala sealed the issue with a third goal seven minutes later.

Senglea lead the way with 22 points, followed by Zabbar on 21, Mgarr 16, Birzebbuga and Kalkara 13, Qormi and Sta. Venera 9, Xghajra 8, Mellieha and Pembroke 3 and Ta’ Xbiex 0.
