Second successive win for Sirens

After beating Gudja United last week, Sirens registered their second win as they defeated Marsaxlokk 2-1 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday.

Although they remain fourth from bottom, Sirens move to just one point behind Marsaxlokk but now lie seven points ahead of Santa Lucia and eight ahead of Pieta’ and Zebbug.

Following a goalless first half, Sirens took the lead on the 62nd minute when off a cross from the right by Rei Tachikawa, Paulo Vyctor Bento beat goalkeeper Marko Drobnjak with a fine volley from the edge of the area.

Twelve minutes later, the St. Paul’s Bay side doubled the score when off an assist by Paulo Vyctor from the left, Rei Tachikawa beat goalkeeper.

Sirens were reduced to ten men on the 80th after Kei Sano received a second yellow card.

Marsaxlokk pulled one back six minutes from time thanks to Oscar Carniello who headed the ball home off a Leandro Aguirre freekick from the left.
