Naxxar Lions re-joined Sliema Wanderers on top the BOV Challenge League table as they defeated Melita 2-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Thursday.
Edson Cerqueira Farias put the Lions ahead on the 16th and Erikys Ferreira doubled the score thirteen minutes in the second half.
Fgura United returned to winning ways, defaeting Vittoriosa Stars 6-1 in another match at the Centenary Stadium. Aroldo da Silva Arruda put Fgura ahead on the 4th minute and eight minutes later, Miguel Tabone doubled the score. Freud Gnindokponou pulled one back four minutes from the end of the first half but goals by Miguel Tabone on the 48th, Ewertton Jose Costa Silva on the 57th, Jeremy Micallef on the 70th and Gabriel Borg on the 77th extended the lead for Fgura.
San Gwann defeated Lija Athletic 2-1 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Kemokoh Toure put San Gwann ahead on the 4th minute and although Erjon Beu equalised three minutes from the end of the first half, San Gwann were quick to regain the lead just before the end of the first half thanks to Daniel Sowatey.
In another match at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Attard and St. Andrews shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. An own goal put Attard ahead on the 65th but Luke Anthony Borg rescued a point for St. Andrews two minutes from time.
Sliema and Naxxar lead the way with 32 points, followed by Zejtun on 30, Tarxien 22, Fgura and Melita 21, Zurrieq 20, St. Andrews 19, Lija 18, Marsa and San Gwann 15, Attard 14, Swieqi 13, Marsaskala and Vittoriosa 10, Mtarfa 8, Qrendi, and Mqabba 7.
