Valletta came from behind to beat Marsaxlokk 2-1 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium to move eighth, one point behind rivals Floriana, two ahead of Balzan and three ahead of Sirens.
The Citizens, therefore bounced back from last week’s defeat to Gudja as although they once again conceded an early goal, they managed to equalise and notch the winner deep into stoppage time.
Marsaxlokk, on the other hand, suffer a second defeat in three matches and remain eleventh on 14 points.
The Southseasiders took the lead on the 7th minute when off an assist by Leandro Aguirre, Tiago Fonseca hit home past goalkeeper Alessandro Guarnone.
Valletta equalised nine minutes in the second half thanks to Shaun Dimech who concluded a solo effort with a low shot which beat goalkeeper Marko Drobnjak.

One minute in added time, Andrea Zammit was brought down inside the area by Emerson Vella. Referee Fyodor Zammit ordered a penalty and sent Emerson Vella off and from the penalty spot, Andrea Zammit converted to hand Valletta the three points.
