A goal just before the end of the second half handed Gzira United a narrow win over Santa Lucia at the Centenary Stadium on Thursday.
This win puts the Maroons in second place, six points behind leaders Hamrun Spartans, one ahead of Hibernians and three ahead of Birkirkara but Gzira played a game more than the rest of the teams.
On the other hand, this fifth successive defeat leaves Santa Lucia second from bottom on five points.
Gzira scored the all-important goal one minute from the end of the first half when Steve Pisani cross shot from the left bounced in front of the goalkeeper, deceived by the presence of Maxuell Maia, and into the net.
