A goal three minutes in added time ensured Hamrun Spartans retain a comfortable lead on top the BOV Premier league table as they defeated Marsaxlokk 1-0 at the National Stadium on Friday.
Hamrun move nine points ahead of Gzira United and ten ahead of Hibernians but the Paolites will be facing Valletta on Saturday.
Marsaxlokk, on the other hand, suffer a second successive defeat to remain fourth from bottom despite a good performance.
The Spartans scored the all-important goal three minutes in added time when Marsaxlokk goalkeeper Marko Drobnjak failed to intercept a long-distance pass by Steve Borg for Emerson Marcelina with the ball reaching Jonny whose cross from the left was well-met by Matthew Guillaumier who headed the ball home from close range.
