The draws for the second phase of the BOV Challenge League were held on Thursday at the Trophies Lounge at the National Stadium by Malta FA Director Match Operations Stephen Azzopardi in the presence of representatives of the eighteen clubs.
Eighteen teams took part in the first round, played on a one-round league basis. The top six teams – Sliema Wanderers, Naxxar Lions, Zejtun Corinthians, Tarxien Rainbows, Zurrieq and Melita – will now take part in the BOV Challenge League Top 6 and play on a two-round league basis. On Match Day 18, Melita meet Tarxien Rainbows, Naxxar Lions face Zejtun Corinthians while Sliema Wanderers will play against Zurrieq.
At the end of this second phase, the top two teams will be promoted to the BOV Premier League while the team finishing in third place will play against the team finishing third from bottom in the BOV Premier League.
Meanwhile the teams finishing seventh to eighteenth in the first phase, namely Fgura United, Marsa, Swieqi United, St Andrews, Lija Athletic, Attard, San Gwann, Marsaskala, Mqabba, Mtarfa, Qrendi and Vittoriosa Stars will take part in the Challenge League Play-Out. Teams will be playing on a one-round league basis with the bottom six teams being relegated to the Izibet Amateur League.
The matches for match-day 18 are Swieqi vs Fgura, San Gwann vs Vittoriosa, Marsaskala vs Lija, Mqabba vs Attard, Marsa vs St. Andrews and Mtarfa vs Qrendi.
