Izibet Amateur League: Msida, Rabat register wins

Leaders Msida St. Joseph and second-placed Rabat Ajax registered wins in Group B of the Izibet Amateur League to build a comfortable lead over the remaining teams on Sunday.

At the Sirens Stadium, Msida defeated Luqa St. Andrew’s 2-1. Mark Camilleri put Msida ahead on the 22nd and although Alan Abdel Rahman on the 33rd, Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza notched the winner on the 62nd.

Rabat Ajax beat Siggiewi 2-0 at the Luxol Stadium thanks to goals by Kurt Agius on the 29th and Kane William Micallef on the 36th.

In another match at the Luxol Stadium, Kirkop United scored three goals in the first half hour as they defeated St. George’s 4-1 at the Luxol Stadium. Dale Tabone put Kirkop ahead on teh 16th, Lincoln Micallef doubled the score on the 18th and Isaac Abela made it 3-0 on the half hour. Zackary Bowman pulled one back on the 76th but eight minutes from time, Giorgio Bellia made it 4-1 for Kirkop.

On the other hand, at the Sirens Stadium, Dingli Swallows rescued a point in a 1-1 draw with Mdina Knights thanks to a goal by Jeremy Ellul on the 90th minute after Pavel Zerpa Marquez put Mdina ahead on the 7th minute.

Msida lead the way with 27 points, followed by Rabat on 26, Gharghur 22, Luqa 21, Kirkop 20, St. George’s 16, Ghaxaq 15, Siggiewi 8, Dingli 6 and Mdina 5.
