Sirens hold Valletta in 3-3 draw

Sirens came back from two goals down to hold Valletta in a 3-3 draw at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Wednesday.

Valletta, therefore, join Gudja in the eighth place on 24 points, two behind rivals Floriana, staying five ahead of tenth-placed Sirens.

The Citizens had a perfect start, taking the lead after just three minutes thanks to a low shot by Shaun Dimech which beat goalkeeper Matthew Grech.

Seven minutes from the end of the first half, Kilian Bevis doubled the score for Valletta, hitting the ball past the Sirens goalkeeper.

Two minutes in the second half, Sirens were unlucky to hit the crossbar with a Paulo Vyctor effort which hit the crossbar but one minute later, he was not to be denied when he converted a penalty after Armah Ayo Vaikainah was floored inside the area by Joseph Willy.

Valletta regained the lead on the 55th thanks to Federico Falcone off a cross by Andrea Zammit from the left.

The St. Paul’s Bay side reduced the gap on the 68th minute through Kei Sano who hit home following a good move by Paulo Vyctor.

One minute from time, Sirens notched the equaliser as Christian Gauci handled the ball inside the area and Paulo Vyctor Bento converted from the penalty spot.
