Senglea extended their positive run on top Group A of the Izibet Amateur League as they defeated Kalkara United 4-2 at the Centenary Stadium on Friday.
Timothy Thomas put Senglea ahead on the 10th minute but Kalkara turned the score in their favour courtesy of Nathan Attard on the 18th and Vadim Gulceac on the 35th. However five minutes in the second half, Christian Degabriele levelled matters for Senglea and Aidan Azzopardi made it 3-2 four minutes later. Sebastian Perdomo Esquivel sealed the issue with a fourth goal six minutes from time.
In another match, Mgarr United beat Qormi 4-1. Leejoe Schembri put Mgarr ahead on the 12th and Christian Saint Ebisindor doubled the score on the 23rd. Julian Camilleri made it 3-0 on the 78th and although Clayton Vella pulled one back for Qormi, Matthew Attard scored a fourth goal two minutes from time.
Senglea lead the way with 40 points, followed by Zabbar and Mgarr on 35, Kalkara 24, Birzebbuga 22, Qormi 19, Xghajra 17, Sta. Venera 11, Mellieha 10, Pembroke 9 and Ta’ Xbiex 1.
