Senglea Athletic stay two points clear of Zabbar St. Patrick in Group A of the Izibet Amateur League as both registered wins on Friday.
At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Senglea defeated Birzebbuga St. Peter’s 3-1. Larens Vella opened the score on the 23rd and Timmy Thomas made it 2-0 three minutes in the second half. Miguel Simiana pulled one back on the 62nd but Kane Bonello scored Senglea’s third three minutes from time.
Zabbar defeated Mellieha 4-2 at the Centenary Stadium. Alexander Akl put Mellieha ahead on the 3rd minute but Kurt Borg equalised on the 28th and seven minutes later, Rowad Benhamed made it 2-1 for Zabbar. David Oliveira Souza extended the lead on the 57th and although Alexander Akl converted a penalty for Mellieha on the 71st, Kurt Borg sealed the issue with another goal on the 74th.
Mgarr United left it till late to beat Ta’ Xbiex 2-1 in another match at the Centenary Stadium. Marko Molnar put Mgarr ahead on the 67th but Daniel Sammut equalised on the 73rd. However, six minutes in added time, Jordan Vella notched the winner for Mgarr.
