Champions Hamrun Spartans found no difficulty in disposing of Balzan, beating them 4-0 at the National Stadium on Saturday. A win which puts Branko Nisevic’s side twenty points clear.
Balzan, on the other hand, are still fourth but they are now joined by Mosta.
The Spartans took the lead on the 21st minute when off an assist by Kalle Holmberg, Luke Montebello beat goalkeeper Jonathan Debono with an angled shot from the left which hit the foot of the upright before ending at the back of the net.
On the half-hour Luke Montebello doubled the score when he received an assist on the left by Mashike and rounded a defender before beating the Balzan goalkeeper.
Elvis Mashike made it 3-0 five minutes from the end of the first half, hitting low past Debono following a cross by Montebello from the right.
Hamrun scored the fourth goal on the 69th thanks to Ederson Bruno Domingos who stole the ball off Bogdan Mladenovic and advanced into the area before beating Debono from the left.
