BOV Challenge League: Fgura secure status

Fgura United secured their BOV Challenge League status as they defeated Qrendi 2-1 in a match from the Play-Out at the Centenary Stadium on Wednesday.

Wellington Valentim de Sousa put Fgura ahead on the 26th and then went on to double the score on the 73rd. Suleiman Jalu pulled one back on the 90th.

In another match, Marsa claimed three important points in a 4-1 win over relegated side Vittoriosa Stars.

Paul Lapira put Marsa ahead on the 16th and Ian Montanaro doubled the score two minutes later. Freud Gnindokponou reduced the gap on the 24th but Lapira was quick to make it 3-1 a minute later. Teppei Iida sealed the issue with a fourth goal three minutes from time.

Swieqi lead the way with 41 points, followed by St. Andrews on 39, Fgura 38, Marsa 34, Lija 33, Attard 30, San Gwann 28, Marsaskala and Qrendi 27, Mqabba 21, Mtarfa and Vittoriosa 20. Mtarfa and Vittoriosa were therefore relegated.
