Floriana extended their positive run to four matches as they found no difficulty in beating Marsaxlokk 5-1 at the Centenary Stadium on Friday.
The Greens took the lead on the 26th minute when off a cross by Adam Magri Overend, Zachary Cassar hit low past goalkeeper Marko Drobnjak.
Three minutes later, Jan Busuttil served Lorenzo Trillo on the left and the latter placed the ball at the back of the net.
Six minutes from the end of the first half, Ulises Arias hit low past the Marsaxlokk goalkeeper when served by Veselji from the right.
The first half was not over yet as two minutes in added time, Floriana were awarded a penalty after Veselji was brought down by Drobnjak and Jan Busuttil’s effort from the penalty spot was partially saved by the Marsaxlokk goalkeeper but the ball still ended beyond the goal line.
The Greens extended the lead seven minutes in the second half thanks to Jan Busuttil who received an assist by Veselji before slotting the ball home past Drobnjak.
Marsaxlokk were unlucky to hit the upright through Ayrton Attard on the 78th minute but nine minutes later, scored a consolation goal thanks to a Terence Vella freekick.
