Jefferson de Assis notched a hat-trick as Gzira United scored four goals in the second half to beat Zebbug Rangers 4-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Friday to secure the third place and hence a place in the UEFA Europa Conference League this summer.
Zebbug Rangers, on the other hand, were relegated to the Challenge League as they finished second from bottom, one point behind Santa Lucia.
The Maroons took the lead three minutes in the second half thanks to Jefferson whose header beat goalkeeper Miguel Chetcuti.
Substitute Lucas Ribeiro de Oliveira doubled the score when he received an assist on the right by Ewertton and rounded a defender before hitting low past the Zebbug goalkeeper.
Jefferson de Assis made it 3-0 on the 67th with a header off a cross by Zachary Scerri.
The Brazilian completed his hat-trick with another great header off a cross by Jackson Mendoza from the right.
