Women’s national team to play friendly match against Haiti

The Malta women’s national team will be playing a friendly match against Haiti on July 1 in Martigny, Switzerland.

Haiti are one of the finalists in the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023 which will be played between July 20 and August 20 and will therefore use this match as preparation for the tournament. This game will in fact conclude Haiti’s training camp in Switzerland which will be followed by another training camp in South Korea before they travel to Australia.

They qualified after defeating Senegal 3-0 and Chile 2-1 in the inter-confederation play-offs which determined the final three qualification spots. In the Women’s World Cup, they will be facing England, China and Denmark.

While Malta are currently ranked 86th, Haiti are ranked 53rd.

Led by new coach Manuela Tesse, Malta played three friendly matches in 2023, defeating Luxembourg 2-1 and 3-1 in two matches at home and Estonia 2-1 away from home.

Between September and December, Malta will be playing Andorra, Latvia and Moldova in Group C1 of the inaugural UEFA Women’s Nations League.
