UEFA Under-19 EURO: Narrow win for Spain

Spain earned their first three points thanks to a 2-1 win over Iceland in a match from Group B of the UEFA Under-19 Championship at the Centenary Stadium on Tuesday.

Therefore they join Norway on three points following the latter’s 5-4 win over Greece earlier on Tuesday.

Spain took the lead on the 16th minute when off a corner from the left, Yarek Gasiorowski deflected the ball past goalkeeper Lukas Petersson.

Two minutes in the second half, Spain took advantage of some erratic defending by Iceland and Ilias Akhomach served Victor Barbera who hit home from close range.

Three minutes from time, Brynjólfsson received a second yellow card, therefore leaving his side in ten men.

However one minute in added time, Agust Orri Thorsteinsson pulled one back for Iceland with a curved shot from outside the area.

On Friday, Spain face Greece at the Gozo Stadium at 18:00 while Iceland meet Norway at the Tony Bezzina Stadium at 21:00.
