UEFA opens proceedings against Hamrun Spartans, Maccabi Haifa

UEFA announced that disciplinary proceedings have been instigated in accordance with Article 55 of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations (DR) following the UEFA Champions League 2023/2024 First qualifying round match between Hamrun Spartans FC and Maccabi Haifa FC (0-4) played on Tuesday at the Centenary Stadium.

The game was halted for a few minutes on the 20th minute following the throwing of flares by Maccabi Haifa fans and suspended once again for over half an hour on the 54th minute.

Maccabi Haifa will be charged of:

– Throwing of objects, Art. 16(2b) DR

– Lighting of fireworks, Art. 16(2c) DR

– Acts of damage, Art. 16(2f) DR

– Crowd disturbances, Art. 16(2h) DR

On the other hand, Hamrun Spartans will be charged of:

– Throwing of objects, Art. 16(2b) DR

– Crowd disturbances, Art. 16(2h) DR

The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) will decide on the matter in due course.
