Hamrun Spartans fined €28,250 by UEFA

The UEFA Appeals Body published the decisions following the incidents which took place in the UEFA Champions League first qualifying round first leg between Hamrun Spartans FC and Maccabi Haifa FC which was played on 11 July at the Centenary Stadium.

UEFA fined Hamrun Spartans FC €20,000 and ordered the partial closure of Hamrun Spartans FC’s stadium, which shall consist of the entire Main Tribune, during the next UEFA competition match it plays as host club, for crowd disturbances. However the partial stadium closure is suspended for a probationary period of two (2) years, starting from the date of the decision.

UEFA also fined Hamrun Spartans FC €8,250 for blocking of public passageways.

Meanwhile UEFA ordered the enforcement of the suspended disciplinary measure imposed by the Control Ethics and Disciplinary Body in its decision dated 7 December 2022 (i.e., to ban Maccabi Haifa FC from selling tickets to its away supporters for the next (1) UEFA competition match, for lighting of fireworks and throwing of objects), in accordance with Article 26(3) of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations.

Maccabi Haifa FC were also fined €30,000 and banned from selling tickets to its away supporters for one (1) additional UEFA competition match, for lighting of fireworks, throwing of objects, acts of damage and crowd disturbances.

Maccabi Haifa FC were also ordered to contact Hamrun Spartans FC within 30 days for the settlement of the damages caused by its supporters, i.e., for the damaged artificial grass.
