Late goals hand Belgium 2-0 win over Under-21 side

Belgium scored twice in the final fifteen minutes to beat Malta 2-0 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium in another match from Group B of the UEFA Under-21 Championship qualifying round.

Malta was coming from defeats to Spain and Hungary and although the team remains without any point after three matches, the performance was quite encouraging.

Arne Engels hit the upright with a header early in the game but Malta soon created some scoring opportunities with Andrea Zammit testing Maarten Vandevoordt with a low shot and Gianluca Sciberras having a crossshot tuned by the goalkeeper into a corner.

In the second half, Malta goalkeeper Hugo Sacco then performed a good save, turning into a corner a fine Luca Oyen effort and Malta had an Aleandro Garzia effort ending just wide following a good run on the left.

Substitute Kazeem Olaigbe was allowed to twist and turn in the box, pulling like a magnet various Maltese defenders before dragging his effort just wide.

However on the 76th, Belgium managed to break the deadlock through Kazeem Olaigbeme.

Arne Engels doubled the score on the 90th with a direct freekick.

Malta will be in action once again on Tuesday against Scotland in Motherwell.
