Melita handed Zurrieq their first defeat in the BOV Challenge League as they defeated them 2-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Tuesday thanks to an own goal four minutes from the end of the first half and a goal by Santiago Martinez Perlaza three minutes in the second half.
Zabbar St. Patrick also suffered their first defeat as a goal by Ibrahim Salis on the 13th minute enabled Swieqi United to beat them 1-0 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.
In another match at the Centenary Stadium, Marsa came from behind to beat Fgura United 2-1. Nnamdi Ofufu Ibeh put Fgura ahead on the 27th but Augusto Rene Caseres equalised on the 58th and a Dylan Agius penalty made it 2-1 for Marsa on the 69th.
Zurrieq lead the way with 12 points, followed by Melita on 11, Zabbar 10, Fgura and Marsa 9, Pieta’ and Lija 8, Swieqi and Luqa 7, Tarxien, St. Andrews and Senglea 4, Zejtun, Attard and Zebbug 1 and Msida 0.
