Mtarfa and Lija Athletic A shared the spoils in a spectacular 4-4 draw in a top of the table clash from the Enemed Women’s Futsal League.

Lija enjoyed a 3-0 lead at the end of the first half, adding another goal early in the second half. However, the Mtarfa girls did not throw in the towel and while increasing their efforts, they managed to score four goals and level matters. Fallon Zammit, Irena Drugovic, Michele Felice and Ruth Steer Cheetham opened up a four-goal advantage for Lija but a double by Demi Magrin, a goal by Elisa Csik and an own goal by Michela Felice restored equilibrium for Mtarfa.

Swieqi United beat Lija Athletic B 2-1 to catch up with them in the standings and get the first three points of the season. It was a very balanced game so much so that by the end of the first half, the score was still 1-1. In the second half, Swieqi scored the winning goal that gave them the three important points.

Danna Fuentes put Swieqi ahead as Lised Romero equalized for Lija B. In the second half, Vanessa Caneino scored the winning goal for Swieqi. Referees: Danilo Francalanza, Jonathan Balzan.
