Despite being held in a 2-2 draw by Qormi, Mgarr United stay two points clear in Group B of the IZIBET Amateur League Marsaskala defeated San Gwann in the two games at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Friday.
In the first match, Mgarr seemed heading towards the three points as a goal by Christian Saint Ebisindor on the 55th and a Jurgen Suda penalty on the hour handed them a two-goal lead but Qormi had other thoughts and Ricardo Silva Faria reduced the gap on the 82nd, notching the equaliser one minute in added time.
On the other hand, Marsaskala moved second thanks to a 2-1 win over San Gwann.
Joseph Chetcuti put Marsaskala ahead on the 7th and Nobukatsu Tsuchiya doubled the score on the 40th. Nine minutes from time, Nezar Fawzi Abouhaisa scored a consolation goal for San Gwann.
Mgarr lead the way with 17 points, followed by Marsaskala on 15, San Gwann 14, St. George’s 13, Qormi 11, Gharghur 10, Kirkop 7, Vittoriosa 6, Dingli 4, Ghaxaq and Ta’ Xbiex 3.
