Hamrun Spartans secured the services of Spanish central defender Christian Rutjens. This signing marks his return to Malta after playing for Floriana between summer 2021 and January 2023.

Rutjens played for Alcobendas CF and Rayo Vallecano in Spain and Benevento in Italy at youth level. He went on to play for Benevento’s senior side and later played for Recanatese, Cesena and Torres before moving to Malta. After leaving the Greens, he joined Foggia but last summer moved to Chindia Targoviste in Moldova.
