Qormi moved two points clear of Mgarr United on top Group B of the IZIBET Amateur League as they defeated St. George’s 5-2 at the Centenary Stadium on Friday as Mgarr United were held in a draw. Mgarr, however, have a game in hand.
Leon Theuma put Qormi ahead on the 11th minute and Jayden Borg doubled the score on the 23rd. Ten minutes later, Gary Bugeja scored a third goal with Jayden Borg adding another seven minutes in the second half. Ivan Bojovic reduced the gap on th e67th and one minute from time, Erson Schembri scored a second goal for the Cospicua side. However four minutes in added time, Shawn Cutajar made it 5-2.
On the other hand, Mgarr United were held in a goalless draw by Gharghur.
Qormi lead the way with 27 points, followed by Mgarr on 25, Marsaskala 21, San Gwann and St. George’s on 20, Gharghur, Vittoriosa and Kirkop 19, Dingli 7, Ghaxaq and Ta’ Xbiex 6.
