Gzira leave it till late to beat Mgarr United in IZIBET FA Trophy quarter-final

Gzira United left it till late to score twice and beat National Amateur League side Mgarr United 2-0 in a quarter-final of the IZIBET FA Trophy at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.

The Maroons beat Fgura United 2-0 and Hibernians 1-0 in th eprevious rounds while Mgarr United beat Msida St. Joseph 3-1 and Santa Lucia on penalties following a 2-2 draw at the end of the ninety minutes and a 3-3 draw after extra-time.

Jackson Mendoza was unlucky to hit the upright for the Maroons towards the half hour but it was only seven minutes from time that they managed to break the deadlock through Kyle Spence following a corner.

One minute in added time, Gzira sealed the issue with a second goal thanks to Thaylor Aldama following an assist by Kyle Spence.
