Top four secure place in E & L Futsal Trophy semi-finals

Swieqi United, University of Malta ACJ Group, ŻRQ Bormla and Luxol St Andrews reached the E & L Futsal Trophy semi-finals.

Holders University of Malta ACJ Group defeated Birżebbuġa St Peter’s Futsal 4-0 in order to secure their place in the last four.

Brazilian player Guilherme Fonseca scored a double while Steven Camilleri and Melvin Borg scored the other two goals.

Last year’s finalists, Luxol St Andrew’s recorded an easy 11-1 victory against the Malta Under-18 selection.

Victor Oliveira Dias scored a hat-trick, Matthew Attard and Marwan Telisi scored two goals each while Luke Gatt, Jhon Castro Pulido, Andy Mangion and Robert Stoyanov also put their names on the score sheet. The Maltese youths scored their only goal after an own goal by Mark Zammit.

ZRQ Bormla struggled to beat Challenger League team Ta’ Xbiex Futsal 4-2.

The Cottonera side were winning 3-0 until the end of the first half but in the second half, Ta’ Xbiex reacted strongly to score twice before conceding another goal.

ZRQ Bormla scored through Karl Luke Schembri, Rodrigo Da Silva, Karl Sciortino and an own goal by Christian Wismayer while Stefi Cale and Redeemer Borg scored for Ta’ Xbiex.

Swieqi United Futsal made it to the semi-finals after an 8-1 win against the Maltese Under-19 selection.

Argentinian player Marcelo Ezequiel Alarcon stood out when he scored three goals with Ryan Muscat netting two goals. Brandon Debono, Rodney Debono and Dylan Pace scored the other three goals for Swieqi with Ivin Gatt scoring the only goal for the Under-19s.

The E & L Futsal Trophy semifinals will be played in mid-May as Swieqi United Futsal face Luxol St Andrew’s and holders University of Malta ACJ Group cross swords with ŻRQ Bormla.
