BOV Challenge League: Melita move six points clear

Melita moved six points clear in the BOV Challenge League Top 6 as they scored twice in the second half to beat Zabbar St. Patrick 2-0 at the Centenary Stadium in a top-of-the-table clash.

Following a goalless first half, Jesus Andres Yepez Morlets put the Amateurs ahead on the 56th and ten minutes later, Matthew Debattista doubled the score.

In another match, Zurrieq defeated Senglea Athletic 3-0 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Ivan Sousa Flora Francisco put Zurrieq ahead on the 26th and Brite Ihuomah converted a penalty five minutes from the end of the first half to double the score. Christopher Baker made it 3-0 on the 64th.

Melita lead the way with 53 points, followed by Zabbar on 47, Marsa 36, Pieta’ 35, Senglea and Zurrieq 34.

In the Play-Out, St. Andrews defeated Attard 2-1 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. William James England put the Saints ahead on the 5th and Wagner Eduardo Alves Pereira doubled the score two minutes later. Camilo del Castillo Escobar pulled one back eight minutes from the end of the first half.

Attard are therefore relegated to the Amateur League 1, along with Msida St. Joseph.

In another match, Swieqi United defeated Lija Athletic 4-0 at the Centenary Stadium. Federico Vasilchik put Swieqi ahead on the 35th and went on to double the score three minutes in the second half. Sylvester Shaw increased the lead on the 68th with Paulo Victor Bento do Vale adding another ten minutes later.

In the Play-Out, Swieqi and Fgura lead the way with 34 points, followed by Lija on 32, Tarxien 27, Zejtun and Luqa 26, St. Andrews 24, Zebbug 20, Attard 14 and Msida 6.
