Kirkop United and Mgarr United reached the final of the National Amateur Cup after both emerged as winners in the two semi-finals on Wednesday.
The final will be played on Sunday 28 at the Centenary Stadium, kick-off at 14:00.
Kirkop United were the first team to reach the final after defeating Marsaskala 5-1 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.
Giovanni Galea opened the scoring on the 3rd minute and the same player doubled the score on the 26th. Ryan Spiteri converted a penalty to reduce the gap on the 38th but Ryan Dalli restored the two-goal lead on the 40th and two minutes later, Neil Thomas Farrugia made it 4-1. Nine minutes in the second half, Dhonatan Santos da Hora scored a fifth goal for Matthew Caruana’s side.
Mgarr United, on the other hand, needed extra-time to beat St. George’s 3-1 at the Centenary Stadium.
Following a goalless first half, Nicholas Schembri put Mgarr ahead on the 67th but three minutes from time, Timothy Thomas equalised to force extra-time. Just before the end of the first half of extra-time, Gordon Saliba restored the lead for Mgarr and three minutes in the second half of extra-time, Christian Ebisindor Saint made it 3-1.
